Term 4 Speech Are Blondes Dumb?

Dumb blonde, having a blonde moment, airhead, stupid, how many blondes does it take to change a light bulb?The list could go on. Is it really fair to blame stupidity on a persons hair colour?So I went out to prove that the blonde population is being treated unfairly. I jumped on the Internet and googled scientific research proving that blondes are not dumb. After hours of googling the same question different ways I started to feel like a DUMB BLONDE for even searching for such a silly question I already knew the answer to.
Physiologist Dr Tony Cassidy of of the University of Coventry in England says, "The dumb blonde stereotype probably emerged with the development of films, television and glossy magazines."What comes to your mind when I say Barbie, Legally Blonde, Clueless, Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears, Christina Aguilera or even Marilyn Monroe?These are icons or movies the media promote as being dumb blondes. This has trained the way we think. This is why we associate blondness with being dumb.
Many people believe that hair colour is associated with certain personality traits. This is a stereotype or a belief that does not necessarily reflect what is real or the truth. Redheads for instance are said to be angry. A vast majority of blondes get their colouring from a bottle which asks the question are they really blonde? John Bargh Ph D of New York University says,"When we use stereotypes we take in the gender, the age, the colour of the skin of the person before us, and our minds respond with messages that say hostile, stupid, slow, weak. They DON'T reflect reality.
Finland has the highest proportion of natural blondes in the world. According to the OECD"Finland is one of the worlds leaders in the academic performance of it's secondary school students, a position it has held for the last decade."And Finland also has no homework! Another fact-who has the highest recorded IQ according to the Guinness World Record? Marilyn Vos Savant ........ oh ok she is a brunette! So is being dumb in our DNA?No scientists say that we are all genetically 99% the same- so we all have the capability of being intelligent. So if you call a blonde dumb are you also calling yourself dumb as well?
So is there such a thing as a dumb blonde? Yes but there are just as many dumb brunettes and dumb redheads.. Therefore maybe there are dumb people. Oh and by the way: how many blondes does it take to change a lightbulb? None blondes are to busy having fun to change light bulbs.
